Dear DCEite,
Snapshots from the Alumni Meet Feb - 2013

February in Delhi is one of the best times of the year for Delhites and if you are a DCE Alumni you treat yourself to a Reliving Nostalgia with all your friends from college time. February 9th was the D-Day for DCE Alumni converging into the city of Delhi from world over for the DCE Alumni Association (DCEAA) event Annual Alumni Meet 2013. The meet was held at FICCI Auditorium at Mandi House. The evening started early with people arriving in earl from 4 pm onwards and the Hasya Kavi Samellan starting off at 6 pm. Here are the highlights of the event.

Hasya Kavi Sammelan
The Hasya Kavi Sammelan held as a part of the meet supremely enjoyable and refreshing programme for all those who attended. The poets, Padam Shri awardee Shri. Surendra Sharma, with Dr. Arun Gemini and Mr. Sampat Saral, were very well received by the audience, of Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and alumni with their families. As expected, the performances had the audience in splits. The flavours of Haryana and Rajasthan provided an interesting dimension to the event. Notwithstanding the fact that the language used might have been a little difficult for people not too proficient in colloquial Hindi, the night on a whole was a memorable one, especially for the alumni and their families who presumably do not get the opportunity to attend such events and let their hair down every once in a while.

The Interlude
Our fellow alumni and a senior IPS officer, Muktesh Chander enthralled the audience with his melodious Flute Recital and filled the auditorium with sweet music flowing all over.

The Felicitations Ceremony
The Chairman Organising Committee, Sanjay Diwan welcomed the Chief Guest Shri RP Agrawal Chairman Moard of Management, Delhi Technological University (formerly DCE), Guest of Honour Prof. PB Sharma Vice Chancellor DTU and all the alumni present at the venue & many were connected over live Webcast. He shared the launch of Mumbai Chapter as the second one after Hardwar. The launch held on 9th January 2013 with close to 100 alumni from Mumbai and Pune attending the event.

He shared how the Alumni Association is committed to provide support at three levels for the Students, Faculty & Departments and University by way of scholarship, incubation & entrepreneurial mentoring and a closer Alumni Connect with DTU.

In tradition set a few years back, DCEAA felicitated Distinguished Faculty with a dazzling trophy and a shawl as mark of respect to their teachers – Prof. KC Palta (Mathematics), Prof. BN Mishra (Electronics) and Prof. NL Sachedva (Mechanical Engineering). Distinguished Service awards were presented to a few whose sparkling success carved a niche for them in the national and international arena. DCEAA recognized Distinguished Alumni – Mr. Ashok Khurana DG CPWD, Mr. OP Bhutani Diretcor BHEL, Mr. IJ Kapoor Director NTPC and Mr. Sanjay Nayar CEO KKR. Two new awards were included this year to include Entrepreneurs & Professional who in last 5-10 years have achieved remarkable success in their chosen field. This year we had Amul Gabrani VC & MD of Tecpro Group of 1981 (Mech) being awarded Trailblazer Award. All five persons received the glittering trophies amongst thunderous applause.

The Golden Jubilee Batch of 1963 and Silver Jubilee Batch Alumni were brimming with enthusiasm and child like glee meeting their batchmates after a gap of many years. Especially the 1988 batch, it was kind many first time reunion for many alumni who came to the event travelling thousands of miles to personally receive their Memento Plaques.
The Secretary Organising Committee Dipti Mal thanked the Chief Guest, Special Guests and all those who made the meet successful.

The meet was attended by over a 1000 alumni with their families, from Brigadiers to Managing Directors to Software Engineers to Entrepreneurs and Professors.

The Office Bearers, Executive Members and the Organising Committee members work hard to put the meet together ensuring fun and food for everyone who made it.

All in all, the meet was a splendid success, surely a loss to those who missed it.
.

Looking forward to your participation in the Annual Alumni Meet-2014,
