Shri Promod Haque

Shri Promod graduated from Delhi College of Engineering in the year 1969 in Electrical Engineering. He also holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Northwestern University and an MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg Graduate School of Management, where he serves on the advisory board.

Promod has 17 years of experience in the venture capital industry and currently serves as managing partner at Norwest Venture Partners. He joined Norwest Venture Partners in 1990. He has been ranked as a top dealmaker on the annual Forbes Midas List for the past five years, and in 2004, Forbes named him as the #1 venture capitalist based on performance over the last decade. In 2006, Promod was presented with a Global Leadership award from NASSCOM.

Promod focuses on investments in semiconductor and components, systems, software and services. He was an early investor and a board member of Cerent (acquired by Cisco), Siara Systems (acquired by Redback Networks), OnDisplay (acquired by Vignette), Winphoria Networks (acquired by Motorola) and Extreme Networks (Nasdaq: EXTR).

His current investments include Adventity, AmberPoint, Cast Iron Systems, FireEye, Persistent Systems, Sonoa Systems, Sulekha, Veraz Networks (Nasdaq: VRAZ), Veveo, Virtela Communications and Yatra Online. Other notable investments and previous board seats include Tivoli Systems (acquired by IBM), Forte Software (acquired by Sun Microsystems), Kiva Software (acquired by Netscape), Information Advantage (acquired by Sterling Software), Arbortext (acquired by PTC), Open-Silicon (acquired by Unicorn Investment Bank), Resonext Communications (acquired by RF Micro Devices), Showcase (acquired by SPSS), Yipes (acquired by Reliance/Flag Telecom) and ZettaCom (acquired by IDT).

Prior to Norwest Venture Partners, Promod spent 18 years in various operational roles ranging from product development, marketing, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer at various public and private companies - Siemens International, Thorn EMI, Emergent Technologies and Dimensional Medicine, Inc.

Shri Chander Sehgal

Shri Chander Sehgal graduated from DCE / Delhi Polytechnic in 1961 as B. E. (Mech.) in first class with distinction. Through Engineering Services Examination 1961, he was posted as Assistant Director, Central Water and Power Commission (CWPC), New Delhi in November 1962, and promoted as Deputy Director in July 1967. He left for the University of Minnesota, USA in January 1969 on a study leave and completed there his M.S. in Civil Engineering (Hydraulics), returning and joining CWPC again in January 1972. He returned to USA in January 1973, resigned from CWPC, and, after working for a small firm as Manager of Engineering for about 2 years, joined, in December 1974, Harza Engineering Company, the most respected name in the world in consulting services in the design and construction of dams and hydropower plants. Since then (for 33 years) he has worked for Harza Engineering Company / MWH. MWH was created in June 2001 by the merger of Harza, representing "H" in MWH, and Montgomery Watson (MW), a firm known for its expertise in water and wastewater systems design. He is currently a Vice President at MWH.

Shri Sehgal has had a very successful career at Harza / MWH, specializing in the design of gate equipment for dams and hydro plants. He is considered a world leader in gate equipment design and has lent his expertise to over 100 projects / organizations all over the world, including projects / organizations in Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Fiji, Germany, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, USA, and Venezuela. He also has a reputation as a superior manager of projects, personnel, and finances, and has, in addition to providing his services as a gate equipment expert, successfully managed whole projects in which gate equipment was just a part.

During his career at MWH, Shri Sehgal has received many commendations for the quality of his work, both within and outside MWH. He has authored numerous papers on gate equipment, presenting several at various international conferences. His papers are in great demand as they provide clear guidance for the gate equipment design, including Chapter 17 of the world famous Handbook of Applied Hydraulics. His successes include several awards including an L. F. Harza (who founded Harza Engineering Company) Award for a paper published by the Journal of Hydraulic Engineering; a best paper award at Hydrovision'94 Conference; an "Honor" award and a "Grand" award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Illinois and National Chapters respectively (awarded to MWH) in 1994 for managing the sectionalized design (a world's first) of a 15 ft. (4.6 m) diameter butterfly valve; American Society of Civil Engineers' 2005 Pittsburgh Civil Engineering Achievement Award (awarded to MWH) for contribution to the design of Braddock Lock and Dam, including two unique 110 ft. (33.5 m) wide radial gates; and the top 2007 "Eminent Conceptor" and "Grand Conceptor" awards from the ACEC Illinois and National Chapters respectively (awarded to MWH) for contribution to the design of a unique Montgomery Point Lock and Dam located near Little Rock, Arkansas, managed by him for nearly 15 years. The annual ACEC awards are considered as the "Academy Awards" in engineering. The Grand Conceptor award was the first ever for MWH.

Currently, Shri Sehgal, besides his numerous other assignments in USA and other countries, is also working on projects in India and Pakistan.

Shri Sehgal is a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, and United States Society of Dams. He is also a registered professional engineer in numerous U. S. states and in British Columbia, Canada. In addition, he is a member of various technical committees.

Shri Satish K. Vij

Shri Satish K. Vij, Member Engineering/Railway Board, born in 1949, did his B.Tech./Civil Engineering from DCE/Delhi in 1969 and M.S. in 1973 from Cornell University. He won Merit Scholarships for all the five years of study. His mental capabilities and affectionate personality are still recalled by scholars of his and nearby years.

He worked with Engineers India Limited at Delhi for Structural Engineering Designs. Through Engineering Services 1970, he got into the most preferred Engineering Service in the country i.e., Indian Railway Service of Engineers, by ranking amongst the top ten in the country. However, having been brilliant student in School and Engineering College days, he pursued further study abroad. He won a Scholarship and got admitted to one of the most prestigious Ivy League Institutions of USA, CORNELL University. He completed MS (Civil Engineering) in 1973 with 4.3 GPA and was sought after by the Institution to study further. He instead chose to return to India and Indian Railways. While with Indian Railways he has received several medals and awards during working in various capacities in his distinguished career of over 36 years. He was specially chosen for High Speed Project on Iraqi Railways. He is instrumental in introducing 'Long rails' rolled at Rail Mill itself, on Indian Railways which shall improve reliability and durability of infrastructure.

A man of clear & focused vision, has authored several papers in the field of P.Way engineering and environment. His extensive experience in track machines & procurement had yielded best ever track machines utilization on IR. He co-authored the Track Machines Manual for Indian Railways. He has widely travelled internationally and brought new technologies for the IR. He was chosen in 1989 to be the singular Railway's nominee for pursuing National Security Strategy at National Defence College. This one year programme brought him into contact with 59 Indian & Foreign Armed Forces and Civil Services chosen classmates. As a part of the programme besides National and International interactions in India, there were interactions with Foreign Minister of Soviet Union and Defence Ministers of Soviet Union and Egypt. A professionally sound person with ever smiling personality is member of several institutions and currently is the head of Institution of P.Way Engineers. He is actively associated with UIC (Union of International Railways) on Railway management and has held various positions in several technical committees. He is FIE, V.P.IBC, Member ASCE, ICI & IABSE, INA.

While working as DRM, Railways, Jabalpur he brought about a total change in the working culture. Worked as General Manager on Northeast and East Central Railways before taking over the charge of Member Engineering in Jan.' 07. Under his able leadership, Engineering construction has achieved best ever performance of adding over 2000 BG km during 2007-08.

He is a successful practical engineer, doesn't seek loyalty from individuals and is loyal to the Nation & Indian Railways.
